Methodology
- Only include brands with a publicly disclosed sustainability / ESG / integrated / annual report package where the report year is clearly labeled as 2025 or later.
- Prioritize evidence auditability: stable official PDFs or exchange-hosted filings over marketing pages and press releases.
- Score across four dimensions: Resource efficiency, Impact on environment, Social responsibility, Economic benefits.
- Reward category fit: devices, PCs, and the computing hardware lifecycle must be meaningfully covered by the public disclosures used for scoring.
Editorial notes
Why computers are hard to rank
Computers sit at the intersection of materials intensity, global supply chains, and fast upgrade cycles. The biggest differentiator in a first-wave ranking is not who tells the cleanest story, but who publishes enough 2025-or-later evidence to audit lifecycle trade-offs without guessing.
What we did not do
We did not score brands based on vague “eco PC” marketing claims, recycled-plastic headlines without reporting context, or unverifiable component sourcing stories. If a company could not be traced to a clearly labeled 2025-or-later report-year disclosure package with an auditable URL, it was excluded from first-wave leadership consideration.
